Between Medicine and Poetry, I Find My Voice
I am Akshita Singh—a doctor in the making, author of Sonder: You’re Not Alone in the Cosmos of Universe, and several other anthologies, and the creator of Prescribed by Poetry. My writing emerges from the space where science meets sensitivity, where the clinical understanding of human life meets the emotional experiences that make us human. I am fascinated by the stories that live beneath diagnoses, behind silence, and within the versions of ourselves we learn to perform for the world. Through my words, I explore identity, grief, love, ambition, burnout, healing, and the quiet courage it takes to become ourselves. I don't always write to find answers. Sometimes, I write to sit with a question long enough for it to become a little clearer.
